Lizzo begon als tiener al met rappen en studeerde klassieke muziek met de focus op fluit. Daarna maakte ze deel uit van verschillende groepen tot ze uiteindelijk besloot solo verder te gaan. Haar EP Coconut Oil uit 2016 opende deuren voor Lizzo. Zo ging ze mee op tour met Florence and the Machine en Haim. Haar echte doorbraak beleefde ze met het album CUZ I LOVE YOU in 2019 met hits als 'Juice', 'Good As Hell' en 'Truth Hurts'. Ook stond ze dat jaar in AFAS Live en op Best Kept Secret. Inmiddels is Lizzo een artiest van wereldformaat met drie Grammy's op haar naam. De Amerikaanse artiest staat voor diversiteit en wil met haar muziek haar boodschap over body positivity verspreiden. Ook spreekt ze zich uit voor de rechten van de LGBTQ+ gemeenschap.
