Logistics Facilities in Transport Planning: Spatial dynamics the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region

An analysis of the spatial dynamics of logistics facilities is an important factor in the study of urban logistics. The research aims to analyze the behavior of logistics facilities (origin) between 1995 and 2015 in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte in relation to the airports of Confins / Tancredo Neves and Pampulha / Carlos Drummond de Andrade (destinations). To measure the distance between origin and destination, the transportation distance was calculated using ArcGIS software, based on the road network of the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region. Considering Confins / Tancredo Neves Airport, the calculation shows a reduction in the transportation distance of 1.12 km in relation to the logistics facilities. Referring to the same time frame, Pampulha / Carlos Drummond de Andrade Airport showed an increase in transportation distance of 0.62 km. Therefore, there is an approximation towards Confins / Tancredo Neves Airport, with a less centralized spatial structure than Pampulha / Carlos Drummond de Andrade Airport.
