Lost in the Woods: Being true account of a small adventure and what night taught four unlikely friends

A butterfly leads four friends into the woods. Then the sun goes down.Velvet, Ellie, Percy, and Starbuck have a perfect afternoon at the end of the garden, right up until an orange butterfly drifts in from the trees and Velvet decides to follow it. One by one the others go too, past the hedge and into the woods, which are lovely and green and full of interesting things. And then the sun moves, and the shadows join up, and the four of them realize they have no idea which way is home. What follows is one night in the dark: a lost fledgling that needs watching over, an owl on a high branch, a sky fuller of stars than any of them has ever seen, and an old cat who has been paying quiet attention to the birds his whole life without knowing why. In the morning, the way home turns out to have been there all along, in something Starbuck loved for no reason at all.A gentle bedtime story about staying close, keeping watch, and the small things you love turning out to matter more than you knew. Told in soft watercolor, from the true adventure of four animals who are all entirely real.Lost in the Woods is Book 1 of the Velvet and Friends series.
