In the small hamlet of Maninkala, Loumöh, the village market, which is held once a week, is a meeting place for many women. My mother, Iya, and other female traders sell their goods. They also buy the villagers' harvests to resell in town. But their daily lives are far from easy. Whilst for Iya and her friends, Loumöh is a constant struggle for the Dioulas to keep their businesses afloat, for us children it is a place of celebration unlike anything we have ever seen before.
