Favoriete Sonic Youth album aller tijden van Thurston Moore. Op 'Confusion Is Sex' kun je al heel goed horen waar Sonic Youth later nog veel beter in werd: a brain-bludgeoning, completely fried endeavor of dissonance and disarray. Waar no-wave stopte, pikte de nieuwe no-fi noise de draad op. Dit was het geluid van het rauwe New York City in 1983 toen in Londen de punkbands juist hardnekkig probeerden glad te klinken om aan de Top Of The Pops criteria te voldoen. Zo niet Sonic Youth... getting a grasp on adding colors to the chaos with tempered, simmering moments.
