In hoc opere, Marcus Tullius Cicero Marcum Antonium, tunc temporis potentissimum, acriter impugnat, vitam moresque eius vehementer reprehendens. Haec oratio, quamquam publice numquam habita, scripta est ut libertatem rei publicae defenderet et pericula tyrannidis ostenderet.Hoc volumen praebet textum integrum orationis, quae non solum est fons historicus summi momenti de fine rei publicae Romanae, sed etiam exemplum perfectum stili Ciceroniani. Per invectivas et argumenta politica, Cicero vim verbi pro causa libertatis exercet.
