Made in Jamaica: a Childhood Woven into Nation’s Story

Set in Jamaica during the transformative years of the early 1980s, Made in Jamaica is a beautifully crafted literary memoir that intertwines personal memory with the social, cultural, and historical forces that shaped a generation. Through the wisdom of a devoted grandmother, the rhythms of village life, and the voices that defined a young nation finding its place in the world, Rose explores identity, faith, resilience, family, and belonging. Rich in Jamaican history, tradition, and everyday life, it captures not only the making of one remarkable woman but also the enduring spirit of a people. Both intimate and expansive, Made in Jamaica is an invitation to experience Jamaica from the inside-through its history, its culture, and the ordinary moments that reveal extraordinary truths about love, legacy, and what it means to know where you come from.
