Bol Most books about teenagers and money were written in America, and a good half of what they suggest is not actually allowed here. They tell a thirteen year old to open an Etsy shop, sign up to Fiverr and get paid through PayPal, and all three of those require you to be eighteen. So you spend an afternoon building something and then find out at the checkout that you are not allowed to have the money. This book is UK only, and every age limit in it was checked against the place the rule actually comes from (the government's own website, or the company's own help pages) rather than somebody's blog post, to make sure you are fully informed before you sign up. Inside are 183 ways for a 13 to 16 year old to earn their own money, online and offline, and every one of them tells you who can do it, what it costs to start, what it realistically pays in pounds, where to find the work, and exactly what to do first. Including the ones nobody mentions: - The Football Association will train you as a referee from fourteen, and at £20 to £40 a match it is very probably the best paid legal work available to anyone that age in Britain - Roblox pays thirteen year olds real money, directly, which almost no other platform on earth will do - A bin round takes about forty five minutes a fortnight and has the best effort to income ratio in the whole book - Etsy, Fiverr, YouTube and Patreon all have published routes that let an under eighteen work through a parent's account, and the book shows you exactly how each one works It also covers the boring bits, because those are what actually stop people if they don't know how to overcome them. Which bank accounts a thirteen year old can open, why PayPal is the wall everybody hits (and how you can legally get around it), how much you can earn before HMRC wants to know, what the law says about hours and work permits, and what changes on your sixteenth birthday. Written for the teenager rather than about them, and honest all the way through about what things really pay (the paper round is in here even though they'll have heard it 100x before, and so is the fact that it often works out at under £4 an hour, and what I recommend instead). There is a toolkit at the back too: what to say to get your first customer, a month by month calendar of what sells when, a ninety day plan, and an index of all 183 ideas with the age and the money next to each one. And parents, if you have been asked for money for the fourth time this month, next time hand this book over instead.
