Making the Cut: Surviving First Year Behind Chair

Making the Cut is the awareness gap between what hair school asks of you and what the industry is going to demand of you. A significant percentage of hair school graduates are no longer working in the industry after five years. Not because they lacked talent - because nobody told them what the job actually looks like once school ends and the license is obtained. How to pick the right salon or barbershop. How to build a client base from nothing. How to handle the financial reality of being self-employed - LLCs, taxes, what to set aside and why. How to market yourself and acquire the right clients. And how to stay in long enough for the craft to click. This isn't theory. It's everything learned the hard way, written for the person entering the industry right now wondering if they're going to make it. You are. But you need the right information first.
