While current waste management practices have mitigated some aspects of the plastic waste (PW) problem, they are far from being comprehensive or sustainable. Investigating alternate techniques, including pyrolysis, becomes crucial as the world community struggles with the pressing need to develop workable answers. Pyrolysis is a sustainable and innovative technique that can overcome the shortcomings of current practices and pave the way for a more efficient and environmentally conscious PW management system that is either directly or indirectly related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and waste-to-clean-energy programs like SDGs 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14. This textbook covers PWs households' characterization and management, experimental design of a pyrolysis pilot plant, proximate and ultimate analysis of PW in compliance with ASTM standards E790, E897, and E830, respectively. The experimental design covers feasibility studies, design consideration, conceptual design, and detailed designed. Also, the pilot pyrolysis plant was fabricated and evaluated for performance using different masses of PWs.
