Bol The Ebola epidemic that ravaged West Africa in 2014 plunged both affected and unaffected countries into a state of fear and uncertainty. In Côte d'Ivoire, a response plan to combat the epidemic was put in place by the national authorities. Guidelines on the management of suspected cases were issued to the general public and healthcare workers. To increase adherence to the recommended measures, awareness-raising, information, and capacity-building campaigns followed. Ebola treatment centers (ETCs) were also built. However, in Man, in the practice of these standards, actors deviated from the recommendations issued by the authorities. Using an ethnographic approach, analysis of the actors' rationales shows that a set of intertwined rationales structures these actions. The risk of contamination, perceived as major, the satisfaction of social and professional imperatives, the quest for social and professional recognition, and the valorization of social ties, without being exhaustive, constitute the fundamental rationales at work behind the actors' practices.
