Maria Mater: A Retreat on the Salve Regina with St. Alphonsus Liguori

"Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy: our life, our sweetness, and our hope."No saint has praised the Mother of God more warmly than St. Alphonsus Liguori, Doctor of the Church. In The Glories of Mary he takes the beloved Salve Regina and opens it, line by line, until the whole of Marian confidence is found folded inside that ancient evening prayer. This Sanctified Souls edition keeps his glorious text and frames it as a retreat on the Salve Regina - the Hail, Holy Queen prayed a phrase at a time: - An original foreword on Liguori and the great prayer at the book's heart- Ten stations - each phrase in Latin and English, Liguori's own words, a reflection for today, a question, and one of his own prayers to close- The Litany of Loreto in Latin and English, and a treasury of Marian prayers- Full-color plates pairing original devotional art with the masters - Velázquez, Titian, Botticelli, Raphael, Fra Angelico- A journal for your own prayers to MaryPrinted in full color, it teaches what Liguori believed with his whole heart: that a soul who says the Salve Regina slowly enough will find in it everything - and, at the last, the blessed fruit of her womb, Jesus.
