Maui and the Race Against Sun: Tales from Gods

Across the land, the days are far too short. The sun races from the eastern horizon to the west with such speed that families struggle to finish their work before darkness returns. Fishing, gathering, weaving, cooking, and every ordinary task become a race against the sky, until Māui decides that someone must do what seems impossible. With a daring plan and the help of his brothers, Māui gathers strong fibers, twists powerful ropes, and sets out toward the distant place where the sun rises. Their journey carries them across the land to a strange and dangerous edge of the world, where they must prepare their trap before dawn. Everything depends on timing, courage, and whether their carefully made ropes can hold something as mighty as the sun. When the first light begins to glow, Māui and his brothers take their places and wait. Soon the blazing Tama-nui-te-rā rises before them, fierce, powerful, and ready to race across the heavens once again. Can Māui truly capture the sun and win enough daylight for everyone below?
