Mayhem in Mogadishu is a vivid exploration of the United Nations’ ill-fated intervention in Somalia during the early 1990s – a mission aiming to provide humanitarian relief that quickly descended into urban warfare, political chaos and international outrage. In response to a collapsing state plagued by famine, lawlessness and civil war, the world intervened under the banners of UNOSOM I and later, the more forceful UNOSOM II. The key players of this effort were the United States, initially welcomed as saviours under Operation RESTORE HOPE in December 1992.
