Bol This book begins with my retirement from the U.S. Navy and transition to civilian life in 1981. After a 20 year career as a regular officer. I was ready to move forward with hopes of accomplishing greater things. In preparing for retirement, I completed a graduate level course Strategy of Career Transition at Catholic University. This set me on the path of self-evaluation to determine the right vocational fit for my second career. After completing psychological and vocational aptitude testing, I discovered I was best suited for a career in sales and marketing. With recent experience in the Far East and Middle East as a Navy pilot, I decided to seek a position as an International Marketing Manager with an aerospace company. I prepared numerous resumes with titles and accomplishments reworded into civilian language. My professional career began with a small international sales and marketing company in Woodbury, Long Island, New York. I was assigned to customers in the Far East and Australasian area. In 1984, I joined Comtech, a telecommunications company in nearby Hauppauge. This provided the opportunity to develop business with high value programs within the Department of Defense. The following year, I was invited to work for a friend at RCA's Astro Electronics Division in Princeton, New Jersey. After General Electric purchased RCA, I was included in a layoff, but quickly found a new job at Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida. In 1989, a colleague invited me to join E-Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida to expand its space systems business. In 1995, I became part of the Raytheon team after they purchased E-Systems. I retired from Raytheon in 2002.
