Men Don't Cry

A tender and refreshing tale of family life, clashing cultures and belonging in France. His retired father spends his days fixing things in the garden, while his mother longs for the North African village she left behind. His older sister Dounia is a committed feminist, his younger sister Mina is on the brink of adulthood, and Mourad himself is caught between his desire for freedom and his fear of becoming the lonely man he dreads. On her eighteenth birthday, Dounia leaves home and cuts all ties with her family. Ten years later, after his father suffers a stroke, Mourad promises to find his estranged sister, now a successful lawyer with political ambitions. As he tries to bridge the divide between Dounia and the family she left behind, he is forced to confront questions of identity, belonging and forgiveness.
