Bol Partner First performed in September 1802, Haydn's 'Harmoniemesse' was the last of the high masses composed to commission from Haydn's employer Prince Nicolaus II of Esterhazy. While Haydn called the work simply 'Missa' the work has acquired its nickname due to the prominent role given to woodwind ('harmonie') instruments in the piece.
