Their crises are unsettling for all those around them, family as well as youth professionals. Parents want to protect their children from risky behaviour. Schools and court systems accuse them of radical acts, disrespect of the law, of God, of any authority figures. Society envies their youth and beauty but finds them uncultivated and dangerous. Adults in general feel threatened, especially by young people in gangs. Could it be our own violence that we are projecting onto them? They are constantly under the spotlight, deemed responsible for much of our insecurity but they are not the cause of our wars or our political dilemmas?
