A daughter's beautiful declaration of love to her father. Saphia Azzeddine shares her father's story with us: he was raised by women in the heart of Morocco's largest palm grove, which was then a protected enclave, eventually he landed up in Paris in the 60s, to find a place for himself in the world. But he never really did. Caught between two countries and two cultures, proud but also ashamed, by turns a nurse and a dressmaker, it was as a stay-at-home father that he was happiest, throwing himself headlong into raising his daughter, his treasure. With great zest and emotion but also humour, Saphia Azzeddine retraces her relationship with her father, its blessings, rebellions and excesses. Saphia Azzeddine was born in Morocco in 1979 to a French-Moroccan mother and a Moroccan father. She is the author of the acclaimed Confidences à Allah and Bilqiss which enjoyed commercial success and were published in translation. She is also an actress, screenwriter and director.
