My Angels Have Afros

What happens when a Black woman is seen not simply as beautiful-but as divine? My Angels Have Afros is a poetic celebration of Black women in all their beauty, complexity, sensuality, strength, softness, and power. Through intimate reflections on love, desire, vulnerability, healing, and spiritual connection, L.J. Hamilton explores what it means to truly see, honor, and appreciate the women who have inspired his heart, his growth, and his poetry. These pages celebrate melanated skin, natural hair, curves, scars, stretch marks, intellect, resilience, femininity, and the sacred spaces where emotional and physical intimacy meet. Here, the Black woman is more than the muse. She is poetry. She is sanctuary. She is creation. She is God reflected in human form.Romantic, sensual, vulnerable, and unapologetically affirming, My Angels Have Afros is a love letter to Black women-and a reminder that what the world has too often attempted to diminish, imitate, or misunderstand has always been worthy of reverence.Because some angels don't need wings. Some angels have afros.- L.J.
