My Brother has ADHD

My Brother has ADHD aims to provide a voice to the sibling experience of having a brother with ADHD. Growing up with a neurodivergent sibling can have many positive impacts but it can also have its own set of challenges and be very difficult at times. This book was written to highlight some of the possible impacts of ADHD on the sibling and familial relationships and hopes to be a conversation starter in families.My Brother has ADHD aims to: - build a parent's empathy for the non-ADHD sibling's experience;- increase the sibling's understanding and empathy of the ADHD child;- help the ADHD child to consider their sibling's experience; and- provide information about Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD) and how this can show up for ADHD children and have a big impact on family relationships.My Brother has ADHD draws on the author's professional knowledge and experience as a Registered Play Therapist and Social Worker, and is also based on the lived experience of the author as an ADHD'er who is parenting an ADHD child and has witnessed some of the challenges, as well as strengths and opportunities that ADHD can bring in sibling relationships. The book includes a detailed parent/caregiver information section which provides some practical strategies to help you to co-regulate your child when they become dysregulated, so that they can begin to learn the skills necessary for emotionally regulating themselves.
