Naaman Washed Clean

Naaman was captain of the Syrian army-a mighty man of valour, honoured by his king. Yet neither his victories, rank, nor riches could heal the terrible disease that afflicted him. Then a little Israelite servant girl spoke of the LORD's prophet in Samaria.Naaman Washed Clean retells the account of 2 Kings 5 for young readers. Proud and angry when Elisha commanded him to wash seven times in the Jordan, Naaman finally received God's promise in the humble way God had appointed. He came from the water with flesh like that of a little child and confessed that the God of Israel is the only true God.The story then leads children to Jesus Christ, who Himself recalled Naaman's cleansing, and to Holy Baptism. Without confusing Naaman's miraculous healing with the Sacrament, it teaches that God bestows His gracious gifts through the humble means to which He joins His Word and promise. Richly illustrated in a warm, classical style, this 32-page book includes "Christ's Promise for You" and a catechetical page for parents.
