Waterways, watersheds, and aquatic ecosystems are often highly vulnerable to human-caused pollution. The waters of the Nangbéto Dam are certainly no exception to this global phenomenon. Given the size of the watershed that feeds this reservoir and the sources of certain effluents from its tributaries, it is highly likely that these waters are contaminated with heavy metals and other undesirable pollutants. To analyze the presence of such pollutants in the dam's waters, a study was conducted to assess the physicochemical and bacteriological quality of Lake Nangbéto. Water sampling and laboratory analyses revealed the presence of certain hazardous pollutants, such as arsenic, etc. This work is intended not only for researchers, scientists, and environmental professionals but also for policymakers and all those who love nature and are committed to environmental preservation.
