Dr. Wayne Z. Burkhead Jr. is a retired orthopaedic surgeon who specialized in shoulder disorders, and being special, in Dallas, Texas. He has lectured on an international level designed medical devices, and authored book chapters, scientific papers, and a Textbook, Rotator Cuff Disorders. As a youth, he fancied himself an artist but, ended up sculpting bones. He also fancied himself a musician but lacked talent. He never fancied himself as a doctor, especially a surgeon. Despite being diagnosed with a fatal illness, he has continued the work he was called to do. This book chronicles his cradle to soon to be dug grave journey and the many wild twists and turns of his life that led him to become a who he is today, "Dr Buz", a world renowned shoulder surgeon and front man for the band Doctor Doctor (the only band that accepts insurance. This story could have only unfolded in the United States of America to one of the millions of the baby boomer generation. A generation that was privileged to be raised by the greatest generation. A generation that matured much later. A generation whose hardships were often self induced, but overcome with the resilience they inherited from their parents. His story mirrors many of those born between 1945 and 1965 especially those born in the early 1950's. Their idyllic childhoods were shattered by the assassination of JFK, and The Vietnam War. Their teen years were heavily influenced by the music of the 1960's. Rebellious misbehaving and unaccomplished teenage years were common. Drug use flourished. Some never came back from either Vietnam or the effects of drugs and alcohol. But many flourished, including the author, who is convinced God's hand was directly responsible for the incredible life he lived.
