Despite its rich biodiversity and high level of endemism, the dry evergreen forest is part of a fragile ecosystem due to the limited ability of its plant species to regenerate. Understanding the optimal conditions for the establishment and development of natural regeneration of endemic, threatened and economically valuable species - Alluaudia procera Drake, Cedrelopsis grevei Baillon and Quivisianthe papinae Baillon - in dry tropical forest is therefore essential to ensure the long-term survival of these species. This is the main objective of the present research. The Bezà Mahafaly Special Reserve was chosen as the study area because it features the various facies of dry tropical forests as well as other formations characteristic of southern and south-western Madagascar.
