Neuropharmacology

This text provides an introduction to the pharmacology of the central nervous system. Following an introductory chapter on the fundamental aspects of synaptic transmission, subsequent chapters provide more detailed information on individual neurotransmitters: their localization and neuronal pathways; the synaptic processes regulating their activity; and the currently identified receptors and subtypes for them. The book also features a discussion of the actions, therapeutic uses and side effects of the main group of psychotropic drugs (those acting on the mind), which are believed to act by interfering with those transmitters.
