Set in the sweltering summer of 1979, Newby Doo, Where Are You? follows four teenagers and a 33-year-old yellow-naped Amazon parrot named Delroy who operate a low-budget betterment and detective society in the small town of Petitpain, Alabama. When the town's famous public beach begins shrinking by eleven inches a week, the group investigates and uncovers a massive, illegal sand-heist tied to a luxury coastal development called Newby Dunes. Their digging unearths a 1956 Buick buried nine feet deep in the sand, containing the suitcase of a local girl who vanished 23 years earlier during Hurricane Flossy. Complete with frantic corporate lawyers flying in from California to avoid copyright confusion and a catastrophic Category 3 hurricane named Frederic barreling toward the coast, the mystery forces a quiet town to finally confront its decades-old secrets.
