No LIFEGUARD ON DUTY: One Night, Twelve Days, and Easy Way Home

One night. Twelve days. A summer nobody leaves quite the same.Nineteen-year-old Jakey comes to Ayia Napa because going anywhere feels easier than going home without his ex. He expects sun, sex and the sort of freedom usually advertised beside a luminous cocktail.Instead, he gets sand in everything, stolen rescue floats, missing swimming trunks and a twelve-hour Friday shift at an adults-only waterpark where nobody listens to the safety announcements. Then Rodger walks in-the older man Jakey never expected to see again, particularly while holding a clipboard and wearing very small red shorts.Frankie, his sharp-tongued fellow lifeguard, appears to be the only person in Cyprus who has read the instructions. She can clear a pool with one look, dismantle a stag party without raising her voice and diagnose romantic stupidity from thirty metres away. What nobody knows is that she has a positive pregnancy test hidden in her locker. The father is Graham, one half of the wealthy married couple Frankie has fallen for. Unfortunately, she has also fallen for his wife, Helen-and for the quiet, ordinary machinery of their marriage. Nobody cheated. Nobody broke a rule. But now something permanent has arrived inside an arrangement that was never promised a future. As the waterpark season ends, Frankie must decide what she wants without allowing fear, money, love or other people's kindness to decide for her.Funny, filthy, tender and painfully human, No Lifeguard on Duty is about unfinished love, unconventional relationships and the terrifying moment when a temporary summer begins asking permanent questions.Because sometimes nobody has done anything wrong-and everybody still gets hurt.
