North American Indian Jewelry and Adornment

A study of American Indian adornment which Dubin has spent the last decade researching, photographing artefacts and conducting interviews with elders and artists, excerpts of which are printed here. The text includes regional maps, diagrams of jewellery techniques and three gatefolds. This is a concise edition of Lois Sherr Dubin's survey of the artistry of indigenous American peoples from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans, from Canada to northern Mexico. It was produced as a result of more than ten years' extensive research, during which Dubin photographed artefacts and interviewed tribal elders and Native American artists. Providing an overview of American Indian jewellery and adornment, the book has many illustrations of distinctive objects from across the continent, together with a text that traces the development of forms and styles across regional and cultural boundaries.
