But her words aren't just a song of praise. Bates was a reformer, and each verse of her famous song acknowledges-at least by implication-a flaw in our country that needs to be mended. How can we use what's beautiful about America to fix what's wrong?What do we aspire to?The O Beautiful For project was born in Philadelphia in 2016 with the idea that celebrating what's beautiful about America is necessary for fixing what's wrong, and that singing together promotes brotherhood and sisterhood from sea to shining sea.
