Bol The relationship with others, with its affective dynamics, has played an essential role in the biological and sociocultural coevolution of our species and equally drives the biopsychosocial development of each of its members. Man is both a creature and creator of culture, because he feeds on it at the same time as he nourishes it and transmits it from generation to generation. In this dialogue between the singular and the collective, the human brain plays the role of central agency of mediation, integration, unification and adaptation. In theoretical reflection on the human condition as in more concrete approaches to one or another of its aspects, we must grasp the subject in its entirety by striving to break down barriers and avoid mutilating Man by amputating one or another of his major dimensions. If we want to design and build the future of our society, we must begin by clarifying our vision of the Man-to-Come. This is what Pierre Karli, a scientist as well as a humanist, proposes here. Pierre Karli has notably published L'Homme dynamique and Les Racines de la violence. He created and directed a neurophysiology laboratory at the CNRS; he was president of the Louis-Pasteur University of Strasbourg and is a member of the Academy of Sciences. In 2000, he founded, with a group of theoretician researchers and practitioners in the field, the Institute for the Promotion of Social Bonds (IPLS).
