1990s. A farcical and near calamitous start to a relationship between landlord Simon Endersleigh and his talented and very attractive actress tenant: Michelle, leads to a distinctly more sinister turn of events as an honest Russian oligarch seeks the Citys help in repatriating and investing his huge fortune from Moscow. Carole Head, a young woman investment banker, whose expertise is respected and sought by a small international coterie seeking wealthy obscurity, is also the landlords significant other. Circumstances unexpectedly present the tenant actress with a starring role in one of Londons West End theatres. Acclaimed for her spectacular performance, she is rewarded with a golden opportunity to play the female lead in a major new film to be shot in Russia and Berlin. The threads of theatre and banking intertwine as events draw the parties into a lethal conflict in Russias frozen north; driven by greed, corruption and underlying lawlessness - facilitated by corrupt financial and political control from the very top.
