Biodiversity represents life on earth. Each species is a library of information acquired through evolution over hundreds of thousands, even millions of years. We are losing entire libraries. Unfortunately, despite the effects of biodiversity loss (reduced food security, climate change, etc.), humanity is unaware of what is being lost in terms of wealth. The management and improvement of our phylogenetic resources with a view to sustainable development and therefore the preservation of biodiversity inevitably requires the characterization of these resources. This work focuses on the analysis of the specific diversity of the olive tree through the study of the phenotypic characteristics of a series of olive tree varieties. With this in mind, we conducted a pedological and genetic study in the wilaya of Tlemcen on two varieties of Olea europaea (Sigoise, Chemlal) and the oleaster during the 2009-2010 campaign. This work allowed us to confirm the evidence that there is no such thing as a good or bad variety, but rather good and bad adaptation.
