He is married to Mrs. Vasanthi and they have a son Dr. Aneel Kumar and daughter Mrs. Sree Ravali. He is highly educated with a degree in civil engineering, a master's degree in structural engineering and an honorary doctorate. He was also honoured with many awards by the Government for his outstanding services. He was an Engineer by profession and a nature lover, humanitarian and rational thinker by instinct.
