On Translation of Laws and Regulations in China: A National Governance Perspective

This book provides readers with a new angle to understand the progress of legal construction in China, by making a comprehensive and interdisciplinary analysis of the translation of laws and regulations in China from the perspective of national governance. Although there is a growing awareness of the social functions of translation among scholars at home and abroad, there still lacks systematic and comprehensive studies on translation of Chinese laws and regulations. Therefore, guided by theories from disciplines such as jurisprudence, linguistics, translation, etc., this book aims to provide professional legal translators and general readers alike who are interested in this field with an integrated theoretical framework by focusing on the bi-directional interaction between legal translation and national governance.
