"I have a fortune in gold in a bank." Thus began the dying words of Finn Clever. "Lank. I want half of it to go to a girl named Molly, and you keep the other half."This with his last breath, "Never get shot with your own gun. Its embarrassing."Lank had been mostly drifting in the late 1870's and out of touch with society after leaving the army on his terms. It had been easy since the rest of the army believed he been killed in a massacre. Down on his luck he was now presented with a gift that came with a two-fold problem. He has no idea who Molly was only where she might be found. That he'd figure out. The second was more daunting. In order to get the money old Finn had to sign for it and there ain't way that was gonna' happen. The second problem was Lank had no idea how banks worked. This was only the beginning of his troubles as he'd learn the government was anxious to get their hands on the money since the law required the account owner to show up once a year in person to verify he was still alive. This meant he had to accept the assistance of Cassnar the president of a different bank. A man who was in the process of bribing the railroad to come through his town and a man his own shadowy past.Lank simultaneously made a different kind oft trouble for himself after meeting Cassnar's widowed sister, Skiilyn with whom he was instantly smitten. With that a race was underway against Pinkerton agents to get the gold first. Cassnar's promises to help were becoming increasingly elusive and the baker had become and impediment to Lank seeing Skiilyn. Along the way Lank finds out his partner Cassnar was himself a former bank robber and intended to become the first governor of the territory so he could get back into the outlaw business. "There will always be one more outlaw," said Cassnar. "The government. It will do with a pen what I sued to do with a gun."
