Pacific Northwest Gothic: A History of the Future

DYSTOPIAN DECAY MEETS GOTHIC DREAD. In 1802, Captain Henry Crowe's doomed exploration ship stopped briefly in a small bay on the coast of the Pacific Northwest, leaving behind seven pregnant indigenous women who were then abandoned by their tribe. Isolated from both white and indigenous culture, the denizens of Crowe's Bay scraped out an existence by the desolate cove witnessing the rise of technological society and its decline into feudalism. Barry Vaughn owns the town of Crowe's Bay and rules it from his mansion on the hill. Alone, looking for security and caring for an infant son, Virginia Banneret marries the brutal landlord. Instead of comfort and safety, she experiences abuse, cruelty, and madness. When Barry turns his wrath on her son, Hardin, the teen flees into the harsh Northwest wilderness. He survives with the help of outcast allies, a failed priest, and the descendants of Henry Crowe. Hardin matures and faces a grueling choice: start life anew or return to face his nemesis and rescue his mother.
