Anglo-Saxon common sense and pragmatism is responsible for law, liberty, and government of the people. Those who dismiss pre-1066 England as the 'Dark Ages' are terribly wrong. In Germania (A.D. 98) Tacitus wrote about a people who had laws, morals, and an organised society based on folk right, customary common law, exercised at folk moots.
