PARTNERS: The Decade of Truth: 2

PARTNERS: The Decade of TruthA body surfaces in the Hackney Marshes. A sealed file from 1983 refuses to stay buried. And the truth has partners who will kill to keep it quiet. When the remains of Michael Eze co-founder of the high profile firm Veritas Digital are found in a drainage channel off the Lee Navigation, DS Ngozi Harper is called to the scene. The evidence is sparse: a faded tattoo, a corroded tobacco tin, a membership card from a Soho private club, and footprints that should not be there. Within hours the case is labelled domestic. Harper is ordered to stay inside the box.She does not.Forty years earlier, a teenage boy named Darren Kaye vanished from Stoke Newington. The file was closed with unusual speed. The officer who signed it off has spent a lifetime trying to forget. Now the same names, the same networks, and the same careful silences are surfacing again through archive boxes, recruitment records, burned letters, and anonymous warnings left on Harper's windscreen. As Harper and DI Sarah Malik dig deeper, they collide with a living web of partners: the first wife who burned the evidence, the headhunter who placed people where they would stay quiet, the retired detective who once buried a case on instruction, and the men who still watch from the edges of the city. Every lead points backward to a single night in 1983 and forward to a present that will not tolerate exposure. Some truths are personal. Some are institutional. Some have been protected for so long that the people guarding them no longer remember why.In a London of marshes, locked rooms, and carefully managed memories, Harper must decide how far she is willing to go when the people telling her to stop digging are the same ones who know exactly what is buried beneath the ground.A gripping, multi layered crime thriller of buried histories, institutional silence, and the cost of finally speaking.
