It is the fruit of a silent anger, fed by the spectacle of a Congo which, sixty years after its independence, still seems to be searching for its identity and unity. My journey through the arcana of law, political science and political activism has led me to an inescapable conclusion: to understand today's ills, we need to look at the foundations, those laid by a man, a prophet, a martyr: Patrice Émery Lumumba. I wrote this book because you can't talk about the future of the Congo without talking about its past, and in that past, the figure of Lumumba embodies both the broken dream and the eternal hope.It's not a question of a simple biography, but of reopening a file that has never been closed: that of balkanization, the national dismantling that continues to plague my country. I wanted to give Lumumba back not only his dignity, but also his relevance.
