Pavement Pete: A Casey Colton Mystery

After searching through the police reports in a discarded newspaper, Pavement Pete finds what he is looking for. There was a robbery of a liquor store on Columbus Drive and the homeless man made his way to the police station to confess. He hadn't committed the crime but still. He needed to confess. Pete told Detective Tobias Hudson that he was thirsty and so he broke in and stole three bottles of water. Nothing else. "So how do you explain the fact that the owner says four cases of Dos Equis beer was stolen along with several cartons of cigarettes and various other food items?" Hudson asked. Pete suggested that maybe someone else, after he had left the store, saw the back door open and helped themselves to the other items. However, this detective knows Pete's MO. He would often come in and confess to crimes, perhaps to get in out of the heat or the rain. Sometimes he would ask for water or something to eat. Whatever the case, Detective Hudson knew Pete wasn't the perpetrator of the liquor store break in. "Here's the thing, the owner didn't say anything about any water being stolen so I guess this is your lucky day," the detective said handing Pete a bottle of water. "You're free to go." >A different homeless man walks into the police station and utters two words: "He's dead." Try as they might, the detectives can get no further information so Lieutenant Andre Hill calls upon Casey Colton and his people skills to get more details from the vagrant. >Forensic evidence taken at the crime scene reveals an unimaginable surprise. So, who is the man found dead in Pavement Pete's tent? And where is Pavement Pete? With each new discovery, more questions are raised. With each new question, the plot twists even tighter. Through it all, Casey Colton is determined get to the bottom of the mystery that is Pavement Pete.
