Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In Islam, the People of the Book are non-Muslim peoples who, according to the Qur'an, received scriptures which were revealed to them by God before the time of Muhammad, most notably Christians and Jews. The generally accepted interpretation is that the pre-Islamic revealed texts are the Tawrat, Zabur and the Injil. They are roughly equivalent to the Jewish Torah, the Book of Psalms, and the Four Christian Gospels, respectively. However, the reference in the Qur'an is not to be confused with the present day versions of these Books. Rather, it is attributed to the Torah that Moses was given, the Psalms that David was given, and the Gospel that Jesus was given; that which is present today is not considered to be the original source.
