Poet's Pub: A Comic Novel of Writers, Eccentrics, Romance, and an English Inn

An English country inn becomes the unlikely headquarters for poets, dreamers, schemers, lovers, and an assortment of people who seem constitutionally incapable of behaving sensibly. When a group of literary-minded characters takes over the running of a pub, conventional hospitality quickly gives way to something considerably more unpredictable. Guests arrive carrying ambitions, romantic complications, artistic pretensions, and personal eccentricities, while the establishment itself becomes a stage on which everyone's carefully maintained dignity is repeatedly tested.Warm, mischievous, and delightfully irreverent, Poet's Pub showcases Eric Linklater's gift for comic characterization and social observation. Beneath the farce is an affectionate portrait of writers and the people drawn into their orbit-a world where poetry, romance, vanity, and everyday life collide with wonderfully unpredictable results.
