Bol Studies on "political culture" had their milestone in North American Political Science with Gabriel Almond in 1956, when he made explicit use of this approach. However, even if implicitly, issues such as "political subcultures", "political socialization" and "change in culture" have been present since classical political studies. Within this conceptual framework, this research identified and characterized the members of the Zumbi dos Palmares Settlement in the north of Rio de Janeiro and, together, identified their form of organization and socio-political mobilization. It compares the forms of socialization that exist between the urban inhabitants of the city of Campos dos Goytacazes and those of the aforementioned settlement, and presents a historical construction of the formation of its main actors. From this set of variables, she responds to the hypothesis that the Settlers tend to have a more "intense" political culture than the urban dwellers, given the idiosyncrasies of the relationship between the MST leaders and the Settlers' base during the process of struggle and conquest of the land.
