Poverty and Social Protection Among the Older Population in Pakistan

Pakistan is a populous country where total population exceeds 208 million and old age population formulates large proportion of the entire population size. Around 11.6 million old age population resides in the country and requires social protection and poverty alleviation support from government to cater for their welfare and basic human needs.Study critically examine the nexus between old age population, social protection and poverty reduction scenario in Pakistan. Research also suggest suitable policy and related measures to include old age population in social protection and poverty reduction strategies. Study also provides useful insight and references for future evidence generation where academic literature lacks in given area especially with respect to Pakistan.
