Predetermination of the 10-Year Flood in Soungrougrou Basin

The Sahel, a region of climatic contrasts, is highly vulnerable from an environmental standpoint-on the one hand due to the intense anthropogenic pressure it faces, and on the other hand due to growing problems of soil degradation. Given the range and scale of development constraints, the Sahel bears the brunt of climate variations. This region is therefore a suitable subject of study for understanding water resources, as its economic development relies heavily on water management. Furthermore, the region has been experiencing a persistent drought for more than thirty years, the socioeconomic consequences of which are difficult to overcome. In light of the realities of climate change, sustainable development has become a key research focus. In the Sahel, the persistent water crisis-caused by declining rainfall and ecosystem degradation-underscores the need for rational water resource management.
