Prudence and Mr. Turtle: The Rock That Blinked

Prudence the Doodle knows every important thing in the house. She knows where the treats are kept. She knows which chair belongs to Daddy. She knows the sounds of the refrigerator, the mail carrier, the doorbell, and every suspicious squirrel outside. Then one day, something new enters her kingdom: a quiet little turtle in a glass terrarium. At first, Prudence thinks he is a rock. Then the rock blinks. Soon Prudence discovers that Mr. Turtle is not only alive, but full of thoughts, secrets, fears, and brave little questions about the wide world beyond his shell. As the two learn to understand each other, Prudence must discover that being a friend does not always mean barking first, standing guard, or taking charge. Sometimes it means waiting. Sometimes it means listening. Sometimes it means walking beside. Gentle, funny, and full of black-and-white illustrations, Prudence and Mr. Turtle: The Rock That Blinked is a tender illustrated chapter book about friendship, patience, courage, and the quiet bravery of choosing pleasant.
