Put Down the Measuring Stick: A Biblical Guide to Assurance of Salvation

Am I really saved? It is a question that lives quietly in the back of many Christian minds. It surfaces in a sleepless night, after a moral failure, after a funeral. Committed believers who serve, give, and read their Bibles carry it like a stone in their pocket. Pastor Daniel Drake knows that question personally. As a teenager he sat through chapel services hearing "Look at your fruit" and "A truly saved person wouldn't do that," and he walked away unsettled every time. In this short, Scripture-saturated book, he gives the simple answer he was never given: you can know you are saved because God has said so. Inside, you will discover: - Why feelings, experiences, cultural images, and your own performance are the wrong measuring sticks - Why justification is a courtroom verdict, not an ongoing audit, and what "It is finished" means for you - The unshakable promises of John 3:16, John 5:24, John 6:37-40, Romans 8, Romans 10, and 1 John 5:13 - Why your behavior "cuts both ways" saved people still sin, and unsaved people do good things - What the warnings in Hebrews 6 and 10 really mean: disciplined, not disinherited - Why the "fruit test" of Matthew 7 is a shield against false teachers, not a magnifying glass for anxious believers - How James 2 and the thief on the cross answer the only question that matters: is my faith alive or dead? - Why the tests in 1 John work like a compass, not a report card - The quiet witness of the Holy Spirit, and what to do when God feels distant >Written for two kinds of readers: - The believer who has trusted Christ but still wrestles with doubt >Includes a closing word to each reader and an appendix of key assurance verses grouped by theme, ready to return to whenever doubt comes back. Short enough to read in one sitting. Clear enough to hand to a friend. The verdict is in. The case is closed. You are allowed to put the measuring stick down.
