Quality Assessment of Antenatal Consultations at the Maternity Ward, Ref. Kati

This is a cross-sectional study involving prospective data collection on 380 cases at the maternity ward of the Kati referral health centre between 2 October and 29 December 2006. The study found that: - The majority of healthcare providers complied with antenatal care standards and procedures. - The premises were suitable. - The resources required for high-quality antenatal care were available. - 100% of antenatal care was provided by qualified staff (doctors, midwives and obstetric nurses). - The reception of pregnant women at the maternity unit was of a high standard (99.2% of pregnant women were greeted). - The reasons for pregnant women attending the maternity unit were proximity to home (35%) and familiarity with staff at the centre (36.6%). - The maternal-foetal prognosis was good.
