Race Car Setup: Alignment, Aero, Tires, and Data for Amateur Racers

Stop Guessing and Start Understanding Race Car SetupFour seconds a lap in similar cars is not always talent - it is often setup literacy. Race Car Setup gives club racers and serious track-day drivers the translation layer between what you change on the car and how it behaves on track. Backed by practical setup principles, real-world testing habits, and data-driven thinking, this book helps make chassis tuning easier to understand.Whether you race a lightweight sports car, a performance coupe, a sedan, or a dedicated track car, you will learn the physics of speed in practical terms. No complex mathematical formulas - just actionable engineering concepts that translate into more predictable handling and better-informed setup decisions.Inside this comprehensive guide, you will discover: - Concrete Alignment Targets: Practical camber, caster, and toe ranges for road courses, autocross, and track days.- Spring & Damper Logic: Clear baselines for spring rates and a working vocabulary for adjusting compression, rebound, low-speed, and high-speed damping.- Tire & Brake Optimization: Manage hot pressure targets, execute pyrometer routines, and understand brake bias at demanding circuits.- Amateur Aerodynamics: Learn when wings, splitters, and diffusers start earning their weight and drag at club racing speeds.- Data-Driven Coaching: Turn an affordable data logger into a lap-by-lap learning tool using simple speed and GPS overlay workflows.- A Disciplined Test-Day Structure: Learn a clear pre-plan and log process that isolates one change at a time so improvements are easier to measure.Stop chasing paddock folklore. Race Car Setup gives you a practical framework for connecting setup changes to behavior changes - a reference you can bring to every club event as you build speed, consistency, and confidence.
